Mara Zapiain Monroe

Do what is right, not what is easy.

Mara invests her whole self in each project—bringing her creativity, attention to detail, aesthetics, style, and efficiency everywhere.

Mara is a natural-born creative and entrepreneur.

Trained as a graphic designer, she—and, by extension, her agency, Marabunta Creative—has forged a path all her own, expanding into other complementing creative capabilities.

Mara invests her whole self in each project—bringing her imagination, attention to detail, style, and signature efficiency everywhere she goes.

And she goes everywhere.

She splits her time between Los Cabos, México, and Las Vegas, Nevada, while also doing extensive travel to several countries a year. Along the way, she picks up business knowledge, inspiration, cultural insights, and world understanding, all of which is evident in her work.

She brings a holistic design approach into every aspect of her life, striving to understand different cultures and human dynamics. Mara sees talent in people (and brands) and loves helping them reach their full potential.

Mar

Marabunta Creative has executed projects across multiple continents and languages. That’s where Mar, our resident editor and translator, plays an essential role. Mar has worked in corporate settings, wellness centers, and tourism boards. She follows up for articles, blog posts, and newsletters. Mar offers a very elegant and professional touch when it comes to words. She has produced pieces of great importance for Marabunta Creative, including copy for a medical tourism project in México that was presented directly to former president of México Enrique Peña Nieto. In what can feel like a creative storm at Marabunta Creative, Mar always brings a sense of calm and a fresh perspective.

marabunta-team-olivia — OLI

Olivia is the newest member of the team, and we are so happy to have her at Marabunta Creative. She is dynamic, fast, and effective, with a thirst for learning. Olivia, has a fantastic, solutions-oriented attitude that shows up in all she does. She is primarily responsible for overseeing social media accounts, facilitating blog posts, and project management. A lifelong athlete, Olivia played hockey since childhood, turning into a former Division 1 college athlete. Needless to say healthy living is a priority in her life.

LULA

Lula gets s#it done. We don’t know her secret, but she somehow manages to accomplish any challenge we put before her. Lula has a way of always getting exactly what we need just when we need it—sometimes, even before we know we need it. Lula is responsible for the daily operations of Marabunta Creative in México: picking up orders, making deliveries, supervising installations, and assisting with logistics for productions. She loves the beach and has discovered a love of traveling. Lula also has a sarcastic sense of humor, so beware!

COLLABORATORS

Francisco is the dynamic force behind Photomexico, the premier commercial and fine arts photographic agency in Los Cabos, and a worldwide resource for those seeking the finest advertising, architectural, interior design and hospitality photography. Francisco has taken on projects in the United States, U.K., Europe, and elsewhere. Longtime teammates and friends, Francisco and Mara met back in 2006: Mara was the new creative director for Los Cabos Magazine, a leading tourism magazine, and Francisco was its go-to photographer. They’ve continued to find ways to collaborate ever since. Together, they’ve had plenty of adventures—4 a.m. shoots, thrilling aerial photography before there were drones, and shenanigans on the high scenes (living that yacht life)—and they’ve got glorious magazine covers and spreads to show for it. It’s always a good time for these two, and that positive energy brightens any set. Mara has modeled for many of Francisco’s projects, too. With so many years working together, Mara knows and expands Francisco’s potential to its best, while Francisco deeply understands Mara’s standards, level of creativity, and high expectations. They bring each other in, on every opportunity.

Seth is the owner and founder of Spectrum Innovations, a leading production company in South Florida. His projects range from showcasing the most luxurious estates to capturing extreme sports (he was a professional stand-up Jet Ski rider. A skill that comes handy!). Mara and Seth met in Los Cabos in 2013: Seth needed a model for a video he was producing. They formed an immediate connection based on their work ethics and expansive portfolios. Now, they’re frequent partners—whether it's building 30-second clips, corporate videos, or films. The days can be glamorous or down and dirty, freezing or sun soaked, but these two are always ecstatic working together and taking on whatever role necessary to get the job done and to the highest standards. The partnership with Seth also means access to a 6600-square-foot indoor studio, which allows maximum control and use of advanced technology. Seth is a team player with an easy, no-drama, totally groovy personality. He is also a high-time helicopter pilot (score for the aerials!) and an award-winning athlete. No wonder he and Mara—both adventure junkies—get along so well. Together they’ve mastered the art of incorporating emotion, message, and calls-to-action through video.
