Templo Grill + Wok + Bar introduced Cabo San Lucas, México, to an innovative 360-degree dining experience. The restaurant incorporated South American-style grilling, Asian wok preparations, and a seafood-rich bar with sashimi, tiraditos, and carpaccio on their menu. Templo was also a trendsetter with mixology, premium cocktails, a curated wine list, and extensive list of fine liquors.

The Project

Creative Director Mara Zapiain had worked with project lead Felipe Rebelo for several years on various other projects. He reached out to her at the earliest stages of developing Templo—before it even had a name. Mara was involved in the creative process obvi, as well as assisting with aspects of its interior design, business model, and strategy. Rebelo asked us to create everything related to the new restaurant’s branding and needed it to be like nothing else yet seen for this new concept in Los Cabos, México.

Creative Brief

Marabunta Creative set out to create an image that would reflect Templo’s revolutionary approach and signature elegance. While Templo’s management team was made up of well-respected Los Cabos entrepreneurs, the concept was entirely new to the Baja Peninsula. Our work needed to be precise, incomparable, and effective at communicating the right message to the right audience.

Identity

“Templo” is a powerful and evocative word, one that immediately evokes a sense of history, rituals, and of sanctuary. It reinforces how Templo Grill + Wok + Bar was designed as out-of-this-world experience celebrating the essence of good food, drinks, and service. The interior design of the restaurant adds significance to this sense too, utilizing dimmed lighting, golden details, and hints of deeper red and purple tones here and there.

The emblem features the letter “T” twice, with them overlapping side by side and representing the blending of the American with Asian cuisine styles to create something unique. This was layered on top of itself to resemble a grill, a signature element of the restaurant.
